Het Noorderlicht is made from an 1839 engraving illustrating an article published in 1876 about a trip to the North Pole. The newspaper clipping is placed in a sandblasted glass box too small to contain its length. The paper is therefore curved and the image only appears clearly when it is in contact with the glass.
