Coast to Coast is a double tribute to both photography and the history of the automobile.

Using out-of-date Polaroids, Aurélien Mole has created a series of photographs of American cars, mostly from the 1970s.

As the chemistry used to develop these images has partly evaporated, very few of the images produced are present on the entire light sensitive surface of the polaroids.

Classified by the amount of development achieved by the process, this series of 63 images tells the story of Aurélien Mole's 2005 crossing of the United States from Boston to San Francisco. It also speaks of two bygone golden ages, that of the automobile and that of instant photography.
