Brute is a series of images produced as part of the Orange Rouge workshops. These are photographs of African masks repainted by children with autism.

Taking technical inspiration from the series of images produced by Walker Evans for MOMA, Brute is interested in the reception of African art in the West. A de-ritualized art that has become decorative. By repainting over these objects, the children give them a form of oddity.
