Designed for the Haptic space in the lobby of the Maison Rouge, the exhibition Nuages fig.1 presents a selection of works in slide format, displayed in an original arrangement of optical viewers. Chosen in reference to a 1967 work by Marcel Broodthaers, the title evokes both an openness to image and representation, as well as the minimal and random aspect of the arrangement.
This device, which plays on a virtual multiplication of the exhibition space, makes it possible to present several works or series by each artist. It thus allows viewers to consider both the uniqueness of the works, framed within the closed space of the viewer, and the relationships between them, as perceived by the viewer's gaze—whether quick or attentive, selective or exhaustive—with the visual combinations depending on each individual's journey through the exhibition.
Nuages fig.1 oscillates between the reality of an exhibition created through mental collage and the fiction of exhibitions of which only traces remain.
The images of works or image-works can be viewed as screens and/or open spaces, displaying fragments of films or photographic scenes (Yannick Koller, Michael Dietrich), graphic or monochrome repetitions (Marina Gadonneix), virtual works or traces of installations (Miguel Angel Molina, Clémentine Roy, Christel Valayer) .
