On the occasion of this new summer exhibition, we are pleased to present new works by four artists: Fayçal Baghriche & Catharina van Eetvelde & Aurélien Mole & Guillaume Pinard.
“Aurélien Mole's many trades (artist, curator, art critic, exhibition photographer, photography historian, editor) allow him to shift practices from one discipline to another, for example, from exhibition photography to the field of art, or from art criticism to editing: any combination is possible. It also implies the use of art-based approaches to solve a concrete everyday problem, without claiming any artistic gesture.
As a co-founder and active member of Bureau/, a curators' collective, Aurélien Mole has an artist's eye, and conversely, as an artist, a curator's perception: the construction of many of his pieces puts the work of other artists into perspective. Aurélien Mole displaces what is known in art history as “appropriationism”, which in the 60's and 80's consisted in reproducing other artists' pieces fairly faithfully, in a questioning of the notions of copy and original [1].
